Alums are vital members of the Scripps College community. Lending your time and service provides an opportunity to actively support the mission of the College. Whether it’s by sharing your words of support and wisdom to students, gathering a group of fellow alums in your local area, serving on a committee, or helping personalize events for your class during Reunion Weekend, there are countless ways to get involved and make an impact. If you have an idea that is not listed here, email our office at [email protected].

Contact an admission representative here.
Alumnae Leadership Council Roles The Alumnae Leadership Council is the representative and leading body of the full Scripps College alumnae community. There are ALC roles, as well as positions on ALC committees.
Alumna Trustees and ALC President are identified through a nominations process and voted on by the alumnae community before ratification by the Board of Trustees.
For more information on the ALC and its committees, visit the ALC page.  Most roles on the ALC are filled through targeted recruitment, so if you are interested in getting more involved in this way, contact the Office of Alumnae Engagement.
Camp Scripps Roles You can get more involved at Camp in a variety of ways. You can lead a workshop at Camp Scripps or serve as a presenter or panelist. You can serve on the Creative Caucus, as a committee chair or as a tri-chair. Additionally, you can serve as a member of various committees to help share programming. First, make sure you are a member of the Camp Scripps Facebook group. This is a very active group of regular and new campers and a great place to stay in the know about the latest Camp happenings. You can always reach out to the Office of Alumnae Engagement to be put in touch with the Camp Tri-Chairs or Creative Caucus members.

Reach out to the Office of Alumnae Engagement or Career Planning & Resources to let us know if you are interested in hosting a future trek for Scripps students.
Dine-Around Host A new, and exciting program for student-alum dinners that take place during a CP&R Trek. Two to three alums are paired with 4-6 students to have dinner in the trek city. It is a wonderful opportunity for some of our most engaged students to connect in a personal and more direct way with key members of our alumnae community. Reach out to the Office of Alumnae Engagement if you are interested.
Job or Internship Referral If your company or organization is interested in hiring, let us know. If your company or organization can host an intern, why offer that opportunity to a current Scripps student. You can actually post a job on Olive Grove yourself. Letter Writing to New Students and Graduating Seniors You can welcome new students to Scripps by writing a letter. First-year and transfer students will receive their personal letters from alums and La Semeuse mug during the beginning of the school year. Or participate in the tradition of writing to our seniors upon graduation and share your words of support and wisdom as they leave Scripps with confidence, courage, and hope! Calls for letter-writing volunteers can be found in the 10th & Columbia alumnae e-newsletter, on social media, and on the alumnae website, beginning in June for new students and April for graduating seniors.
Regional Volunteer There are Scripps alums just about everywhere. While there may be more opportunities to get together with fellow members of the alumnae community in our bigger cities, we can help you connect with other alums wherever you are and plan a get-together. The Office of Alumnae Engagement can help! We hear often from members of our alumnae community who are interested in helping to organize an event or gathering with other alums in their area or with shared interests. Reach out with your ideas and discuss how we can help support – from programming to invitation lists, promotion on social media, and logistics – we want to do what we can to create opportunities for alums to stay connected with each other.
Reunion Class Volunteer Bring class members together for their reunion and solicit Class Reunion gifts. Example tasks include sending a personalized letter to classmates, setting up reunion class Facebook groups, outreach to classmates encouraging them to attend Reunion Weekend. Reach out to the Office of Alumnae Engagement for how you can get involved ahead of your milestone reunion year.

You will see periodic calls of class notes on our Facebook and Instagram accounts as well.
Honor a fellow alum by submitting an alumnae award nomination One of the most impactful ways to support the alum community is to celebrate and honor one of our own! Calls for nominations can be found in the 10th & Columbia alumnae e-newsletter, on social media, and on the alumnae website, beginning in October of each year.
