Pre-Professional Clubs On Campus

Have you ever contemplated the balance between theory and practice? At the Claremont Colleges, we offer a diverse range of pre-professional clubs designed to help you translate textbook knowledge into real-world applications while exploring life beyond college alongside motivated peers. These vibrant clubs foster a collaborative environment where students from across the colleges can support one another and experience exponential growth in both their careers and personal development.

Scripps Investment Fund (SIF)

The Student Investment Fund at Scripps College brings together students who share an interest in financial markets and investing. Its main goal is to give students hands-on experience in understanding the free enterprise system and learning the essentials of smart investing. Additionally, Scripps students join a pitch competition with peers from other colleges each year to build their networks and sharpen their investment and presentation skills.

Scripps Pre-Law Society (SPLS)

SPLS enhances undergraduates’ understanding of the study and practice of law by providing a range of resources and activities tailored to students’ interests and career goals. They strive to create and facilitate networking opportunities with fellow aspiring lawyers, alumnae working in the legal field, and the broader legal community, fostering connections that can support students’ professional aspirations. Last semester, the leadership team organized an in-person tour of law schools in Southern California, allowing members to gain firsthand insight into different programs and campuses.

Claremont Investment Banking Club (CIBC)

CIBC members engage in a self-paced financial education curriculum, including Wall Street Prep and Bloomberg Market Concepts, to build strong foundations in accounting and valuation. The club also offers alumni lectures, campus recruiting events, and mock interviews to help students prepare for the recruitment process. Each sophomore is also mentored by one co-president to get tailored support.

Claremont Women Business Club (CWIB)

CWIB’s mission is to connect and empower career-driven women through a supportive community focused on collaboration, mentorship, and growth. They open doors for women in all areas of business, ranging from entrepreneurship and environmental initiatives to fashion and investment banking. By offering resources like access to alumni and like-minded peers, they help women gain valuable skills and overcome challenges unique to the business world.

Claremont Marketing Group (CMG)

CMG lets students get hands-on experience with real companies. Working in small teams, members evaluate a variety of companies’ strategies, branding, and design, then offer marketing recommendations backed by research and competitor analysis. Right now, one team is helping Nobibi, an ice cream and tea shop in Claremont Village.

Pomona Consulting Club (PCG)

PCG aims to introduce students to the consulting profession and equip them for successful careers through practical projects that address real business challenges. To prepare students for excellence in consulting, they organize applied workshops, career panels, interview case studies, and office visits to various businesses. They are dedicated to delivering genuine value to a diverse range of businesses and their previous clients include startups, venture capital firms, and private equity companies.

Final Notes

The above are just a fraction of the pre-professional clubs on campus. It’s important to note that these clubs tend to be more selective, often requiring applications and interviews for membership. However, demonstrating your passion and strong interpersonal skills can significantly enhance your chances of being accepted. While the job market can be competitive, students at the Claremont Colleges consistently foster a collaborative and supportive environment.
