Favorite thing about Scripps: I love the way our beautiful campus is both a reflection of our location in Southern California and our sense of community. The multiple courtyards are shared spaces for students, faculty, and staff to enjoy the warm, sunny weather and catch up with each other. The Rose Garden and Graffiti Wall are not only great outdoor spaces to explore with friends, but a way to appreciate the college’s history and traditions. Last but certainly not least, the orange trees serve the dual purpose of providing shade and lovely greenery–plus a snack to grab on the go!
Why a women’s college: At a women’s college, you know that you are in a place where generations of women challenged themselves, supported each other, and laid the foundations for their future. When Ellen Browning Scripps founded the college around the time of the women’s suffrage movement, she knew that she was creating a safe space where women could be empowered to succeed. Being a part of continuing that history and community into the present and future is incredibly inspiring.
