Student Resources
Based at Scripps College since its founding in 1998, the European Union Center of California is one of only two centers of its kind in California. The Center helps support and guide student interest in several key themes of European integration and EU-US relations.
Undergraduate education about the European Union is the EU Center’s top priority. To that end, the EU Center sponsors:
European Union Studies Program: The EU Center of California awards letters of commendation for undergraduate students who complete this program of minimum requirements for proficiency in European Union Studies.
Internships and Summer Programs: The EU Center sponsors various internships and training opportunities for undergraduate students. The EU Center also encourages students of the Claremont Colleges to apply for internships at unlisted organizations. For a list of sponsored internships and applications, please visit the Internships page.
Model EU: The West Coast Model European Union is an annual simulation of a European Council Summit, bringing together undergraduate students from across the United States. The EU Center sponsors one or two teams of students to participate in the event.
Undergraduate Research Conference on the EU: The EU Center hosts the annual Claremont-UC Undergraduate Research Conference on the European Union at Scripps College in Claremont, California. The conference takes place each April and invites undergraduate research papers on topics that deal with any aspect of European integration or transatlantic relations. Students from the Claremont Colleges and other undergraduate institutions from around the United States and internationally are welcome.
