Scripps Presents; A Conversation with Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch

Marie Yovanovitch is a three-time US ambassador, most recently in Kyiv as the ambassador to Ukraine, and the New York Times bestselling author of a 2022 memoir, Lessons from the Edge. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Ambassador Yovanovitch has earned the Senior Foreign Service Performance Award eight times and the State Department’s Superior Honor Award on nine occasions. She is also the recipient of two Presidential Distinguished Service Awards and the secretary’s Diplomacy in Human Rights Award. She retired from the Foreign Service in 2020 and is currently a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and a non-resident fellow at the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy at Georgetown University. 

Ambassador Yovanovitch will be joined by Alex Cohen, a twenty year veteran of public radio. Cohen is the current host of “Morning Edition” on KPCC and “Inside the Issues” at Charter Communications. She has previously served as host and anchor at NPR, Marketplace, Weekend America, and KQED.
