The Wild Reeds

The Wild ReedsJoin us for our second Summer Levitt on the Lawn Concert! This free event is part of the Levitt on the Lawn concert series presented by Pasadena’s Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts and sponsored by alumna Elizabeth Levitt Hirsch ’74. Since 2005, Levitt on the Lawn has brought twenty-two diverse musical performances to the Scripps College campus. Our twenty-third event will feature LA-based indie folk quintet, The Wild Reeds.

The Wild Reeds are made up of three front women – playing a variety of instruments, such as guitar, harmonium, banjo, and auto harp – and two gents on drums and bass. Their harmony-driven indie folk has a sound of its own, but has been compared to Fleet Foxes, Jenny Lewis, and classics such as Fleetwood Mac. Their live performances will transport you to somewhere timeless, all the while painting a picture of the perils of this generation. To date, they have independently released two albums (Songs for the Morning, Afternoon, and Evening and Even When the Strong Winds Blow), toured the West Coast a few times, and played all across the Los Angeles music scene.

Dinner will available for purchase from LA food truck icon Kogi BBQ, and from Upland and West Covina’s own Old World Deli. Dessert will be available from the King Kone ice cream truck. Picnic dinners are also welcomed, and a limited number of blankets and lawn chairs will be available to check-out at no cost (ID must be left for collateral). Dinner service begins at 6:00pm; the concert begins at 6:30pm. For more information, call the Scripps College Public Events Office at (909) 607-9372.
