Derin’s documentary is the first film on migration made in Germany by a Turkish female director. It centers around the story of Derin’s mother who came from a small village on the Black Sea coast. Her mother is an example of a woman who grew up in a rural environment and then immigrated to Germany. Derin’s film reveals how her mother manages her life in both cultures. At the same time, it is inspirational in the sense that it points to the first generation of immigrants who came to Germany in the sixties.
