Tenure Track Position in Molecular Biology – The Department of Natural Sciences, Pitzer and Scripps Colleges

The Department of Natural Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Biology with an emphasis in molecular biology at the Assistant Professor level to begin July 1, 2025. We seek a biologist who is committed to 1) developing a vibrant research program in modern, experimental molecular biology that fully engages undergraduate students, 2) excellence in teaching, and 3) promoting inclusivity in research and teaching. The position offers opportunities to teach a combination of courses including an upper division laboratory in molecular biology, introductory biology (cellular and molecular focus), and other courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.  A Ph.D. degree and a record of scholarly publication are required prior to hiring, and post-doctoral experience is preferred.

The department, which houses the biology, chemistry, neuroscience, environmental analysis, and physics faculty for Pitzer and Scripps Colleges (two of the five undergraduate Claremont Colleges), offers innovative and interdisciplinary programs in the natural sciences. The Department supports faculty success through mentorship, opportunities for professional development, and regular sabbaticals.  The department also offers many shared facilities in support of research including an animal care facility, a microscope facility, and a new greenhouse.  Faculty of the Department of Natural Sciences are part of the rich intellectual environment of the Claremont Colleges consortium and benefit from proximity to major research universities in the Southern California region, enabling collaboration both within and outside the department.  Additional information about the department may be found at https://sites.google.com/view/scripps-pitzer-science-dept/home.

The salary for this position will range from $93,000-$107,000 and will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
