Summer Thyme ’06 Named Pew Scholar in the Biomedical Sciences

Summer Thyme ’06, an assistant professor of neurobiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, has been named to the 2021 Pew Scholars Program in the Biomedical Sciences, which funds human health and disease research by early-career investigators. Thyme is studying zebrafish, which share more than 70 percent of their genes with humans, to better understand the genetics of schizophrenia and other neurological diseases. She has already received three prestigious early-career research awards for her work.
