Scripps College Assistant Professor of Dance Kevin Williamson‘s original dance performance, “TROPHY,” debuted at Human Resources gallery in Los Angeles to a rave review by Seedancenews.com, which characterized the work as “a totally riveting evening of art” and an experience that perceptively highlighted the internal struggle of the human spirit. “Williamson’s choreography for TROPHY is strong and would succeed on its own, but when presented in conjunction with the other artists who collaborated with him, it is a totally fulfilling, intelligent, and exciting work of art,” the publication’s reviewer said. Williamson collaborated with video artist Cari Ann Shim Sham and experimental composer Jeepneys, inviting audiences into a “mediatized landscape of movement, sound, and visual art” for the show, which ran from August 25 to 28.
