Scripps College alumna and Los Angeles artist Alison Saar ’78 created a bronze sculpture entitled Embodied that has been installed at the headquarters of the LA District Attorney (LADA) and Sheriff’s Department at the Hall of Justice building in downtown Los Angeles. A story about the 12-foot tall figure is featured in the LADA’s online blog, including a photo of the impressive artwork. Saar inscribed more than 200 words of “justice” on the sculpture in more than a dozen languages collected from conversations the artist had with staff members of LADA, the Sheriff’s Department and others. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese are among the languages represented.
