Three scholar-athletes earned awards from Scripps College in recognition of their achievements on and off the field this year. Track and field star Caroline DelVecchio ’23 received Scripps’ Athlete of the Year award, Ava Sealander ’22 of the swimming and diving team earned the Scripps Alumnae Athlete of the Year award, and Riley Harmon ’22 received the Noelle and Veronique Boucquey Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Award for her achievements on the cross-country and track and field teams.
DelVecchio was awarded the Athlete of the Year honor after earning an All-American distinction this spring, as well as becoming the Southern California Intercollegiate Conference (SCIAC) champion in both the 100 and 400 hurdle events. Sealander earned Alumnae Athlete of the Year honors for their All-American finish in the 100-yard butterfly, All-SCIAC honors in three events, and their CMS relay record times, as well as their community involvement with the W.M. Keck Science Department and withBlend, Scripps’ affinity group for mixed race/ethnicity students. Harmon was an All-American for the cross-country team in the fall, and she earned the league title in the steeplechase event for track and field in the spring.
