Dear Students,
I wanted to provide an update following my communication on Wednesday outlining new COVID-19 mitigation practices to address the current surge we are experiencing. Given the high rates of cases across the colleges, Dr. Prateek Jindal, Director of Student Health Services, met with Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) to discuss the current spike in COVID-19 cases. We are currently experiencing a 10% positivity rate in our student population at the undergraduate colleges.
LACDPH has provided additional guidance to support the mitigation practices we introduced Wednesday. We are pleased that with the suspension of cross-campus dining, indoor dining, and limited social gatherings along with our mask mandate and weekly surveillance testing we have met the requirements and recommendations from LACDPH. We will continue to monitor our positivity rate and evaluate when it is safe for our community to return to a less restrictive environment.
I appreciate everyone’s attention to the updated mitigation practices. It has been wonderful to hear from students who are pleased with how the College is addressing the current spike. Please continue to focus on your own wellbeing and the safety and care of those around you. I am grateful to be a part of such an attentive and strong community.
Stay Safe,
Dean di Bartolo-Beckman
Interim Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
