Scripps Presents, Scripps College’s signature public events series, is excited to launch its spring 2025 season featuring luminaries from the worlds of tech, entertainment, literature, academia, and the arts.
“This season’s featured guests and performers will delve into everything from comedy to the ethics of artificial intelligence to Black feminism,” says Marcy Robinson, Scripps College’s director of events and conference services. “We invite eventgoers of all ages to engage with our community and be inspired!”
Headliners from Scripps and its Global Community
This season will bring an unforgettable evening with America’s most iconic ballet dancer, Misty Copeland; a conversation with mental health advocate and bestselling author Sophie Grégoire Trudeau; a live cooking demonstration with chef, cookbook author, and social media sensation Toni Chapman (The Moody Foody); rapid-fire stand-up with comedians Jeff Wright, Joey Avery, and Wally Baram; a Black feminist celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by performance artist, author, and poet Gabrielle Civil; and a conversation with Erin Reddick, creator of ChatBlackGPT, AI software providing culturally aware and inclusive insights into Black history and perspectives.
Scripps alums and faculty will also headline events showcasing their research, publications, and work, including a special event with MacArthur “Genius Grant” Fellow Elizabeth Turk ’83, who returns to campus to speak with MIT Professor of Architecture and Civil and Environmental Engineering John Ochsendorf about the shocking inspiration behind Turk’s sculpture Suspended Meditation.
All events are free, with a select number of tickets reserved for students from Scripps and the other Claremont Colleges on a first-come, first-serve basis. When registering for events, attendees are invited to make a contribution in any amount to support future Scripps Presents programming.
