The CMS Athenas Track & Field team had a home meet against Redlands and Whittier over the weekend on March 3. The Athenas showed determination and level-headedness, as they beat both teams with scores of 91-72 and 120-38 respectively.
Scripps athletes gave an outstanding performance at the meet; Breanna Deutsch ’12 and Julia Rigby ’12 competed in the 5000 meters, finishing first and third, respectively. Kelly Garton ’12 also took first place in the 800 meters, with Laura Wyatt ’13 securing second. Ellyn Ervning ’14 and Calyx Gaston ’13 earned first and second place, respectively, in both the long jump and the triple jump.
The CMS Athenas also competed at the ITA Division III Indoor National Championships, which was held at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. After losing in the first round, the Athenas delivered a strong resurgence on the second day of competition.
