A Playing for Change benefit concert is scheduled for 2:30–4:30pm Saturday October 8, at the Motley. The event is part of SCORE’s Community Engagement Week on campus and is hosted by many of the College’s resident advisors. The goal of the event is to raise money for Playing for Change, an organization that works to establish music programs in communities in need around the world.
“We hope students will come out and support the concert and performers,” says Adriana Esquivel ’12, RA for independent living. “In between performances, we will show Playing for Change videos.”
The Playing for Change Foundation was born 10 years ago when a group of documentary filmmakers set out to create a film inspired by the music of the streets. After becoming intimately involved with the music and people of each community visited, the foundation made it a mission to ensure anyone with the desire to receive a music education would have the opportunity to do so. The organization is wholly dedicated to the intrinsic value of peace, change, and music as a universal language.
