Mara Falahee, a junior from Bradenton, Florida, has been named the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) Student Athlete of the week for her performance on the women’s basketball team.
Falahee put up career-high numbers during two wins last week, notes the CMS website. “CMS beat Whittier 62-48 and La Verne 55-35 to put them at 7-0 in [their conference] and on a nine win streak. In each game, Falahee had double digit rebounds for a combined 22 boards.
“In a week when CMS’ leading scorer was unable to play, Falahee stepped up in a big way to lead her teammates. She was 8-for-14 from the field for 19 points on the week. The junior hit one three-pointer that kick-started an explosive 36 point half for the Athenas. Against La Verne, Falahee recorded her second career double-double.”
The Athenas maintain first place in conference standings and are 13-3 overall.
