The Scripps community gathered in Seal Court October 12 to celebrate Latino Heritage Month and Dia de la Raza during weekly Scripps Tea. A Scripps tradition since 1931 and a weekly event on campus, each tea is sponsored by a student club/organization, 5C program, or a Scripps office/department. This week’s tea was hosted by the Chicano/Latino Student Affairs Center.
Students enjoyed taking a break between classes and studying during busy mid-terms week to relax with fellow students, staff, and faculty. Everyone snacked on the delicious themed treats including buñeulos, churros, chips and salsa, veggies with black bean dip, and, of course, tea. Matalaché, an Afro-Peruvian dance group based in Los Angeles, provided excellent entertainment with a live performance.
Be sure to check out future teas, where you can “make new friends and catch up with current ones” every Wednesday at 3:30.
