
In Backstory, Alexandra Tran ’08 discussed the origins of the script for It’s a Wonderful Life, the classic film starring Jimmy Stewart and directed by Frank Capra. The film’s genesis eventually inspired a script of Tran’s own, which made the 2022 Black List, an annual survey of most-liked motion picture scripts that have yet to be produced. “We’re all going through this shared global trauma in a way we haven’t really done since World War II,” Tran said. “There’s a lot of similarity in the trauma response to both events. I thought, Okay, this is a story about how we come out of the pandemic and about choosing to focus on and deal with our trauma in productive ways.”
