Inside Higher Ed profiled the Laspa Center for Leadership’s salary negotiation workshop, hosted in partnership with the College’s Career Planning & Resources office. Students need to understand that “their first salary in their first position can dictate the earnings ladder for their career,” said Gretchen Maldonado, interim director of the Laspa Center.
The workshop is part of the Linda Davis Taylor Financial Literacy Program, in which alumnae facilitators educate current students about budgeting, taxes, banking, and investments. Taylor, a former Board of Trustees chair and Scripps parent, “believes in the power of financial literacy to transform a person’s life, and also the power of women sharing this information with other women,” said Maldonado.
