Claude M. Steele, Stanford psychology professor and member of the Scripps Board of Trustees, will speak at the Sandra Day O’Connor Institute for American Democracy, the Financial Times reports. Dr. Steele is the author of Whistling Vivaldi and Other Clues to How Stereotypes Affect Us, which summarizes years of research on stereotype threat and the underperformance of minority students in higher education.
