The Source reports that Scripps Professor of Art and Fletcher Jones Chair in Art Ken Gonzales-Day will join curators from Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) to discuss his new artwork designed for the forthcoming Metro Wilshire/Fairfax station in LA. The talk is free to the public and will be held at LACMA on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 7–8 p.m.
Entitled Urban Excavation: Ancestors, Avatars, Bodhisattvas, Buddhas, Sages, Spirits, Symbols, and Other Objects, Gonzales-Day’s glass-tile mural reimagines and reproduces artifacts from LACMA’s permanent collection in large scale. Metro Art will display the work on the north and south walls of the Wilshire/Fairfax station concourse.
