Scripps alum and USAFacts president Poppy MacDonald ’97 was the featured guest on Guy Kawasaki’s Remarkable People podcast to close out 2024.
USAFacts is a nonprofit focused on researching, analyzing, and sharing government data. MacDonald was previously president of Politico before taking on the role of USAFacts president in 2018.
The conversation covered a range of topics including USAFacts bipartisan stance, the organization’s mission to make government data publicly available, how artificial intelligence will be leveraged in gathering data, trust in media, and what data and government reporting will look like under a second Trump administration. The site has over a million visitors each month, MacDonald shared.
“One of the additions we’ve added to our site is allowing people to look at things by their state, by their county; to really localize the data so it is more relevant to the experience that person is having,” MacDonald said.
