It feels like 1968 all over again, or does it? Scripps College history chair Rita Roberts was interviewed recently by U.S.News & World Report writer Joseph Williams in his exploration of the similarities and contrasts between today’s racial climate of shootings, division, and unrest and the political and social turmoil of 1968. Roberts, professor of History and Africana Studies, commented on the polarization that marked an historic year that changed history in the U.S. and that journalist Williams characterizes as “the most chaotic, dangerous year in history.”
