Dance faculty Suchi Branfman explored the power of dance and choreography during the COVID-19 pandemic in The Nation magazine. Branfman’s Undanced Dances Through Prison Walls During a Pandemic, a COVID-19 era performance of her 2019 performance Dancing Through Prison Walls, premiered as a Zoom event in April 2021. During the pandemic, Branfman has written prompts for ways in which dance can be imagined without actually moving: “And it turns out that writing dance is actually a liberating way of making dances. There are no financial, gravitational, technical, or locational limitations. Anything is possible.”
