Scripps alumna Roxanne Wilson ’76 was recently quoted in an article for Bloomberg Markets on university investment committees led by women. A member of the investment committee and the Board of Trustees at Scripps, she says that having female majorities on both committees has helped the College raise money. “People, especially alumni, want to donate to something they believe in,” says Wilson, who got her start cold-calling alumnae for money. “Back in my phone-a-thon days, women would tell me that they’d have to ask permission, or we’d get some lesser amount, while the husband’s institution got the big numbers. Women aren’t afraid to talk about money anymore.”
