Scripps College will screen the documentary “A Circle of Women,” which explores the role of female leadership, on Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Garrison Theater, Scripps College Performing Arts Center, 231 E. 10th St. This event is free and open to the public.
Following the film screening, the public is invited to participate in a question-and-answer session with film director Gayle Anne Kelley, who is a cultural and community development specialist. She is the founder of the nonprofit A Circle of Women, which calls attention to the positive societal contributions of women and girls and aims to foster more global respect for women.
The Humanities Institute has organized a series of spring lectures and film screenings titled, “Continuing Invasion: Resistance, Resilience, and Re-invention Among North American Indigenous Peoples.” The speakers will challenge the distorted depictions of Native peoples in mainstream and scholarly written works.
