Associate Professor of Politics Vanessa Tyson spoke to ABC News about the roles that millennials and generation Xers will play in the 115th Congress in an article titled, “New Congress, Who Dis?” “You have a lot of young women of color and a lot of young progressives who have the political will to say, ‘Why not?’ and to question the status quo,” said Tyson about the culture clashed between senior and freshman members of the Democratic party. “You don’t get into these positions by asking for permission,” Tyson continues, “You get elected by inspiring people to turn out and vote for you, and part of what they’re saying is we can do better and we should do better.”
