Quetzal, a bilingual Chicano rock ensemble formed in the early 1990s in Los Angeles, will make their Carnegie Hall debut on November 15 in New York City. Associate Professor of Chicanx-Latinx Studies Martha Gonzalez has been performing with the band since 1995.
Quetzal won a Grammy in 2013 for best Latin rock, urban or alternative album and has headlined multiple performances, including a packed Scripps Presents concert in 2023.
The ensemble will perform with La Santa Cecilia as part of Carnegie Hall’s curated season entitled “Nuestros sonidos” celebrating Latin culture in the US. Watch Quetzal’s Scripps Presents performance here.
