Gabor Kalman, from the USC School of Cinema -Television and Art Center College of Design, will screen and discuss his documentary film, Keepers of Memory: Stories of Hidden Children, as part of the Spring 2004 Humanities Institute “Life Stories” series. The film focuses on children who were hidden during the Holocaust. The screening begins at 7:00 p.m. on April 1 in the Boone Recital Hall at the Scripps College Performing Arts Center on 10th and Dartmouth. The event is free and open to the public. An award-winning documentary filmmaker, Kalman’s many films include, We Are All One People, 15 French Architects in Los Angeles, and Turning Points. Kalman is a founding and serving member of the International Documentary Association. He is an adjunct professor at the USC School of Cinema-Television and a faculty member of the Art Center College of Design. Born in Hungry, he moved to the United States in 1956 to study sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. He also received his M.A. in communication and film and television from Stanford University.
