Scripps College alumna Kate Fehlhaber ’09 and her team of fellow graduate students and postdoctoral scholars at UCLA won the Society for Neuroscience ‘Next Generation Award 2016‘ at the organization’s annual meeting in San Diego. The students, who specialize in various areas of neuroscience, founded the neuroscience education website, Knowing Neurons, which explains complicated ideas about the brain clearly and accurately using powerful images, infographics, and animations. The Society for Neuroscience’s award acknowledges that Knowing Neurons has become “an important science communication outlet and resource for both students and teachers,” according to a news release from the organization.
The Society for Neuroscience is the world’s largest organization of scientists and physicians devoted to understanding the brain and nervous system, with nearly 38,000 members in more than 90 countries.
