Money Talks: Fiscal Policies Dissected by Economics Expert

Dr. Luisa Lambertini, associate professor of economics, UCLA, will speak on the “The Interaction of Commitment and Discretion in Monetary and Fiscal Policies,” on Thursday, March 27, at 12:15 p.m. in the Hampton Room of the Elizabeth Hubert Malott Commons on the Scripps College campus. This talk, part of the European Union Center of California Spring 2003 Lecture Series, is free and open to the public.

Noted economist Dr. Luisa Lambertini is a frequent featured speaker in international conferences on economics and finance and has, herself, organized two industry conferences on international fiscal policy-one in America and one in Italy. Primarily focused on policy discussion surrounding the EMU (European Monetary Unit), Lambertini’s contributed articles and research have been published in American Economic Review, European Economic Review, and Review of Economic Studies, among others.

Lambertini earned her master’s in economics at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom, and her doctorate in economics at UC Berkley. Prior to joining the faculty at UCLA, Lambertini taught courses in international finance and political economy at Princeton University and the Institute for International Economic Studies at Stockholm University. She is the recipient of several fellowships and grants from such distinguished programs as the Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation, and the Alfred P. Sloan and Hoover Institutes.

The European Union Center of California, housed on the Scripps College campus, sponsors Inger Lambertini’s appearance.
