As part of the Brad and Mary Anne Blaine Faculty Lecture Series, T. Kim-Trang Tran, assistant professor of media studies, will present "Amaurosis: A Portrait of Nguyen Duc Dat" on Thursday, March 7, at noon in the Hampton Room of the Malott Commons. This lecture is free and open to the public.
Over the last ten years Professor Tran’s multimedia pieces have been shown at numerous film festivals and museums worldwide, with solo screenings at venues including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Festival of Independent Film & Video in Ontario, Canada, and the Armand Hammer Museum at UCLA, among others. She is a frequent guest lecturer and guest curator, and is co-founder of Gene Genies Worldwide©™, an organization dedicated to the marriage of art and science.
Tran, who joined the Scripps faculty in 1999, earned an M.F.A. from California Institute of the Arts and was recently awarded both a Rockefeller Foundation film/video/multimedia fellowship and a California Arts Council artist fellowship.
Former Scripps professor of history and current trustee Brad Blaine, along with his wife, Mary Anne, have generously underwritten this lecture series featuring outstanding Scripps faculty to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Scripps College.
