The Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery at Scripps College has loaned restored paintings from China dating to the Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368–1644 and 1644–1912) to the Perlman Teaching Museum’s Braucher Gallery at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota for the winter season. As reported by the Northfieldnews.com newspaper, Scripps’ “Preserving China’s Past” exhibition at the liberal arts college runs through February 19 and celebrates the art of restoration as well as the range and variety of Chinese paintings. Scripps College is known for its art history and art conservation study programs, and students at the women’s college in Claremont, Calif. gain valuable experience working to conserve the Scripps College permanent collection in funded summer internships.
