Providing an opportunity for students, faculty, and guest artists to debut original choreography and performance work, “Scripps Dances” is one of the highlights of the dance department’s spring calendar. This year’s concert brings the work of seven students to the stage and includes the culmination of four senior projects. A variety of dance forms are represented including modern, jazz, and contemporary ballet. Student choreographers include Tova Eisner (Scripps ’06), Melissa Falcetti (Scripps ’05), Yael Japha (Pitzer ’06), Katy Lind (Scripps ’06), Nkechi Njaka (Scripps ’05), Eliza Pfister (Scripps ’05), and Molly Rogers (Scripps ’05). The students will also perform a flamenco work by guest artist, Liliana de Leon Torsiello, two short baroque ballroom dances by O’Brien Professor in Residence, Catherine Turocy, and an experimental performance piece by Joel Smith, Scripps dance faculty member.
