Suzanne Muchnic to Speak at Scripps Fine Arts Foundation Grand Opening

Art writer for the Los Angeles Times Suzanne Muchnic will speak at the Scripps Fine Arts Foundation Grand Opening on Wednesday, October 6, at Scripps College. A luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m. at Wilbur Hall, and the program will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Humanities Auditorium. A Tea will be served at Wilbur Hall following the lecture.

As art writer for the Los Angeles Times, Muchnic covers a wide range of visual arts issues and institutions for a major daily newspaper. Her best-selling biography, Odd Man In: Norton Simon and the Pursuit of Culture, is an intriguing, intimate profile of a tycoon-turned-collector that provides a thoughtful overview of Los Angeles culture in the postwar years. Muchnic is also correspondent to Artnews magazine and author of numerous essays in exhibition catalogs and art journals. She has taught art history and criticism at Los Angeles City College, the University of Southern California, and the Claremont Graduate University. A graduate of Scripps College and the Claremont Graduate University, she is the winner of distinguished alumna awards at both institutions.
