The Elizabeth Hubert Malott Commons at Scripps College will offer the Tuesday Noon Academy, a series of noontime lectures covering a variety of topics, beginning February 4 and continuing on Tuesdays through April 29. Each lecture will begin promptly at 12:00 p.m. in the Hampton Room of the Malott Commons; prior to each lecture a buffet lunch will be available for purchase in the Malott Commons Dining Hall. With Scripps professors, administrators, and invited guests as featured speakers, theTuesday Noon Academy sessions will explore a broad range of subject matter – from science to music to politics to cultural history, among others. Scheduled speakers and topics for February are:
On February 4, Ric Battaglia, associate with Boora Architects, Inc., will talk about “Sustainability at Scripps: How Green is the New Performing Arts Center?”
On February 11, Judy Harvey Sahak, Sally Preston Swan Librarian at Denison Library and Scripps alumna, will reveal “Mysteries in Scripps’ Past.”
On February 18, no lecture is scheduled.
On February 25, YouYoung Kang, assistant professor of music at Scripps, will present “I Sing, Therefore I Am: Musical Performance and Identity.”
