Winter Concert to Offer “Carmina Burana,” Others

The Claremont Concert Orchestra and Concert Choir will perform an evening of Orff, Dvorak, and Schubert on Saturday, December 14, at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, December 15, at 3:00 p.m., at the Bridges Hall of Music on the Pomona College campus. This concert is free, open to the public, and wheelchair accessible, and donations of canned goods will be accepted at the door for the West End Hunger Program, SOVA.

The program will consist of three works: Orff’s Carmina Burana, Dvorak’s Carnival Overture, and Schubert’s Symphony #8 in B minor, D 759 “Unfinished.” Featured in Carmina Burana will be soprano Lorie Williamson, baritone Ralph Cato, and Gayle Blankenburg and Paul R. Bishop on pianos.

Representing an ensemble of student musicians from all of The Claremont Colleges and sponsored through the Joint Music Program, the Concert Choir is led by Anna DeMichele, professor of music at Scripps College, and the Concert Orchestra is conducted Michael Deane Lamkin, professor of music and dean of faculty at Scripps College.
