Scripps College alumna Catherine Townsend ’86, a nonprofit consultant who was formerly executive director of the D.C. Public Education Fund, takes the helm as president of the Trust for the National Mall, it was reported in Washington Business Journal. The Trust for the National Mall partners with the National Park Service to restore the main federal stretch of land in downtown Washington, D.C., that frames the national monuments and Smithsonian museums. Townsend will lead the Trust in its work to fund restorations and improvements on the National Mall. The Trust is the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, which celebrates its centennial this year.
