The Washington Post featured Scripps’ sustainability coordinator, Tiffany Ortamond, in an article about the campus’s efforts to reduce waste. Scripps’ annual sale of lightly used items, which are donated by students moving out of the residence halls for the summer, diverted an estimated 3.5-4 tons from landfills in 2018 alone. “We had overwhelmingly positive feedback from students and parents, especially those coming from the East Coast,” said Ortamond, who piloted Scripps’sustainability program this past school year.
