The decades following World War II saw tremendous growth and experimentation in studio and industrial ceramics. Artist Millard Sheets (1907-1989), a leading artist, educator and designer, exerted considerable influence on a multitude of Los Angeles-area art institutions. Sheets’ strongly-held concept of ‘good design’ acted as a catalyst in forming ceramic practices and opinions about art, interiors, and architecture.
