Author Carolyn Jessop, former member of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, will present her book, Escape, at a lecture in Balch Auditorium of Scripps College at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11. The event is free and open to the public.
Jessop’s book, a New York Times bestseller, is a dramatic first-person account of life inside an ultra-fundamentalist, polygamous sect, and her courageous flight to freedom with her children. The lecture will be a discussion of her story and of the detrimental effects that fundamentalist cults have on women and children within these cults.
Doors to Balch Auditorium will open at 7:00 p.m. and a book signing will follow the event. Books will be available for purchase before and after the lecture. For more information, please call (909) 607-9372.
