Corine Astroth ’21 coauthored a paper, recently published in Diversity, on the divergent lineages and evolutionary relationships of Monechma, an ecologically important plant group in sub-Saharan Africa. The different lineages of Monechma are present in noticeably different regions in and around the Namib Desert, including both savanna and succulent biomes. Further study of the plant group will provide additional understanding of the biogeographical history of Africa.
