This book project was designed to focus on the integration of word and image. The theme was orchestration: each chapter is like a musical composition with a sequence that sometimes emphasizes text, at other times image, with the goal that the two complement each other. The accordion binding structure was designed to give equal importance and separateness to each composition. The boards were covered in brown bookcloth. The book opens to about 3.5 feet and is viewable from both sides. Many experimental techniques for making imagery were tried: cyanotype. pochoir, linoleum block cuts, fish prints, and rubber eraser stamps. The text type for the front matter is 14/18 pt. Scripps College Old Style, while the display face is 24 and 36 pt, Hadriano. Various typefaces were used for the text. The paper is 80 lb. Mohawk Superfine and Arches Cover. The size is 7″ x 8″. The edition size is 25.
