On the Impact of Expectations

This is the thirtieth book in fifteen years from the Scripps College Press. Over that time, I have observed that students often write overly predictable first rough drafts. As a result, the specific focus of this book is unpredictability or surprise. These stories became experiments in challenging the readers’ expectations. The resulting varied page configurations serve to reveal the structure of each story. So as not to give away the premise of this book, this section appears in an unexpected position, at the back of the box. The paper used is Rives BFK and Rives Heavyweight. Front matter typeface is 14 pt. Scripps College Old Style. Images were created with linoleum blocks, pochoir and photopolymer plates. The results are housed in a pearlized acrylic box. The size of the box is 6 wide x 6.5 tall. There are 70 copies in the edition.
