Zig-Zag
– Out of Print –
This book project was preceded by a printed broadside, Collective Gestures, where the students had to experiment with imagery that appeared to be moving, with an accompanying text. Then for the book they were asked to write about two opposites: their text would appear on opposite sides of accordion-folded paper. The texts concerned yes/no, inside/outside, and fantasy/reality. The imagery was to be made of the paper itself in the form of pop-ups or cut-outs. The three stories were glued onto hinged museum boards which formed a triangle held with a magnet: the booklets would stand up to see both sides of each story. The book would lay flat when not using the magnet in its museum board hinged case. The book was printed on Somerset Satin. Optima is the text type, which was printed in silver with a hint of blue. The edition is 40 copies. The size of the book is 5.25″ x 10″ when inside the case.
