The Future of Scripps
When Scripps College was founded in 1926, it was one of few institutions in the West dedicated to educating women for professional careers as well as personal growth. Today, Scripps is a healthy, vibrant institution with a treasured legacy and a promising future. We value our thriving community of scholars who contribute to society through lives of leadership, service, integrity, and creativity.
Today we have the opportunity to reinforce our commitment to our legacy, our values, and our mission, while we look ahead to its future through the Scripps Centennial plan.
Mission of the College
The mission of Scripps College is “to educate women to develop their intellects and talents through active participation in a community of scholars, so that as graduates they may contribute to society through public and private lives of leadership, service, integrity, and creativity.”
Message from the President
Central to the creation and adoption of a new strategic plan for the College was community input. College-wide participation was invaluable throughout the strategic planning process, and we have developed several opportunities for engagement and feedback as we consistently think about Scripps’ evolution and potential. Your ideas, observations, and perspectives are crucial to envisioning Scripps’ future, and I hope that you will take advantage of the opportunities available to remain engaged as we continue to implement the plan over the coming years.
